Soongies' Great Adventure
We drove from Gothenburg, Sweden to Odense, Denmark today. It was a fairly costly drive on the Danish side with a $70 and then a $45 toll and was an expensive introduction to the country for Tim. Fortunately we stopped off for lunch before we left Sweden! We went to Galleria Center Syd just off the highway. There was a little Mexican restaurant in there which offered a lunch buffet for $12 - Kate and Calvin seized the opportunity to have nachos, burritos, noodles, rice and salads. Tim decided to be healthy and get a serving of coleslaw and creamy potato salad. Bypassing Copenhagen, as Kate and Calvin had been there before, we drove into the 3rd biggest city in Denmark. Odense is really trendy as a city. It's people are tall, ride antique bicycles, have excellent hair and they pull off op-shop clothes really well. Even the Airbnb we had was trendy - top floor apartment with old floorboards, indoor plants and retro wooden furniture speakers. There was only 1 piece of furniture that could've been IKEA but it was probably boutique. The owners were really friendly and Tim seemed a little in awe of their hipster coolness. Tim headed out for a walk/run to explore the city and potentially find someone to cut his hair. Calvin and Kate opted for a stroll. It was only 2 km to the city centre so it was a nice walk through the neighbourhood and into the city where we saw the Town Hall, the main shopping mall and wandered around Hans Christian Anderson's Haven (well manicured gardens). There was a nice atmosphere in the city but it was quite cold and windy and it was time to head back to the apartment - just in time before the rain hit! The apartment had Netflix so there were a few episodes of Brooklyn 99 and Modern Family after a home cooked dinner of Thai red curry with rice and pasta (and eaten with Herdmar gold cutlery - so hipster).
