Soongies' Great Adventure
As Copenhagen hadn't been properly explored yet, today was the day to see the drug free side of the city. The original plan was to drive to the the nearest station and take the metro in to the city however there wasn't any day car parking nearby so the plan turned into driving and parking in Christianshavn anyway. We had a great day of discovering the city and as an added bonus, it didn't rain! The sights seen included:

Our Saviour's Church (beautiful inside, seems to have motif of elephants throughout, didn't bother paying to go up the tower)

Christ ianshavn (older buildings around the canals),

Nyha vn (brightly coloured buildings and great vibe on the canal front)

Amalienborg Castle (we saw the changing of the guard which took a while but was great to see and hear the band, waved to Princess Mary - she might have waved back from behind one of her many windows)

Citadel (walked past the citadel area, would've have been great to see the star shaped fort from above - need to get a drone now)

The Little Mermaid (quite a poised statue looking out to the sea - didn't have eyes for Calvin)

Stroget (one of the longest pedestrian shopping streets in Europe, there was a Lego store and given that Lego was started in Denmark, it was definitely a reason to go in - but who needs an actual reason to visit a Lego store?)

City Hall (walked past this beautiful facade and its tall clock tower)

Since eating out in Scandinavian countries is extortionate, the packed lunch of bread rolls, cheese and boiled eggs was satisfying enough - particularly when there was a view across the canal of the beautiful Opera House . From Copenhagen, the next destination was Dragør, a quaint little town south of the city. It had cobblestone lanes and yellow painted houses and a fantastic harbour from which the Øresund Bridge could be seen - the bridge from Denmark to Sweden starts off as an underwater tunnel so it looks like it's a bridge to nowhere. The town was also memorable as the Irma supermarket sold Solero mango and passionfruit ice creams - there were at least 2 bought that day by Australian tourists. Back home just in time before the heavy rains hit at 5 pm. For dinner, home cooked Thai vegetable curry and rice.
