We said a sad farewell to the trusty maggot at Christchurch and made our way to the airport. I was disappointed that there was a heavy cloud layer so I could not see NZ below us. We walked from the domestic terminal to the international terminal and went through security. We are now sitting in the lounge waiting for boarding, except now Jean has disappeared to one of the stores to do some shopping! It suddenly got noisy and a whole plane load of Asians are walking by disembarking from a recently landed jet. I was really surprised to see a Russian made jet out on the Tarmac. Very easy to tell as it had a square fuselage and obviously heavy jet engines as the wings drooped! It is now 4:30 and our flight leaves in 1 hour supposedly. There are not too many passengers in the lounge yet so maybe it will not be a full flight. Hope to write again soon!
