Dave’s Travel Blog
Not much to report today. We stopped in Thames to walk down the Main Street. A very interesting little town with a gold mining background. It was Farmers Market day and for many blocks, the vendors had their wares set up along the sidewalks in front of the stores. In some cases the goods were in direct competition with the store owners wares. Very accommodating!! The trip back to the area around the airport was not very long. We passed by mainly farming areas. Lots of fields with dairy cows in them. We have booked into a Top 10 campground for the night and have checked with the campervan company to let them know we will be there early. It is a 9.5 hour drive to Wellington and we will catch the ferry early Monday morning. Tomorrow morning we will clean up the camper, gas it up and return it to the campervan people. Gary and Sunni will catch a ride to the airport and we will head south in a smaller campervan. We will miss Gary and Sunni and wish them a safe return to Canada. The South Island adventure begins soon!

Jos Good luck on your trip to Wellington via the Desert Road, at least you have a smaller camper van to maneuver! Hope you explore the West coast and Nelson in the South Island.
