Dave’s Travel Blog
Today was a fairly uneventful day. We headed north to the Coramandel. Stopped in Whangamata to have lunch and walk on the beach. I had forgotten how winding the roads were going up toward Whitianga. Some turns seemed almost to be 360 degrees. One turn was so tight they had put up a mirror so you could see what was coming around the bend. We are staying at Hot Water Beach campground and we think we will go just to Ha Hea tomorrow. We went to Whitianga by ferry and wandered around with a brief stop for ice cream. On our way back across on the ferry we chatted with a couple from the USA, she from New York and he from Maine. She is a veterinarian working with the NZ government responsible for bio-protection. She looks after checking all animals brought into NZ. They have been here for 2 years and plan on becoming NZ citizens. The campground has filled up mostly with Germans who are not so friendly. Lots of young people.

Joanne Hi Travellers, Catching up on reading the blog after being away at the coast closing up the cottage for winter. Finally the fog lifted here after almost 10 days so we are glad to see blue sky again. There was a memorial service for Jim Motter at the church today. Thanks for sharing the pictures and also enjoyed the Maori choir audio. The blog is very user friendly, amazing to be sharing in your adventure.
