We were up early at the Trounson campground and headed south to Matakohe and the Kauri Museum. We arrived there just as it opened and spent 3 hours roaming through it. It is much bigger than the last time I was there and now includes a working sawmill and a townsite made of kauri wood. It is truly a fascinating place to visit and one can learn so much about NZ history there. We then headed south through Auckland but didn't find a campsite until we were south of Hamilton at a small town called Otorohanga which is where a friend of Dale Johnston lives. We tried calling her but couldn't get her phone number. We walked to the local supermarket to get dinner supplies and then had a quiet evening at this beautiful peaceful campground. We are all quite tired from a long drive. Everyone is now reading and relaxing. Tomorrow we will go to the Waitomo caves. Sorry no pictures for this episode.
