This was a crazy early start...we were picked up at 6am....and yet again we found that the tour was going to be all in Spanish!!!So we don't have much extra information to give you, as we haven't a notion what was said!!! Our conversational Spanish certainly does not cover these kinds of specifics!!!
Luckily this bus driver was a bit better, and always made sure that we knew what time we had to be back on the bus....so there was no danger of us getting left behind!!
After a very twisty and turney drive we ended up at the beautiful waterfall that was Agua Azul....this was a lovely stepped waterfall that didn't drown us as the waterfall the days before had. We then headed onto the next waterfall Misol-Ha, which was a large one that you could walk behind...again the pictures sum it up best!!!
Last up on this day trip was the archaeological ruins in Palenque.....we hired a crazy guide called Victor, who has been doing the tours for over 40 years and repeatedly told us that all that was written in the history books was 'garbage'.....he said it wasn't a Mayan ruin...but a combination of Egyptian, Chinese, Indian etc etc...and that Tutankhamen had died of a drug overdose....we took pictures of some of the drawings etc which help him make his argument!!!We are undecided as to what the truth really is!!!But he was very entertaining!!!!
It was extremely humid there but the jungle was amazing...and it is mad that only a small percentage of the ruins have been uncovered...all the rest is so overgrown
We stayed in Palenque that night...which was fine!!Not a town we would be hanging around in but it suited us for the night....the next day was pretty much just spent travelling...we even got to spend a few hours in Mexico's 'Horse and Jockey' equivalent.....thrilling as I'm sure you can imagine!!!
Luckily it was all worth it as we ended up in Belize, and its lovely islands....
