After an overnight in Chetumal we decided it was easiest to cross the border by water rather than land!...so we got the water taxi for 2 hours to San Pedro on Caye Amberguis......
We arrived onto a beautiful Caribbean island and got offered a drink straight away...as well as the other 'Caribbean speciality!'...we somehow managed to turn down both as we wanted to get to our hostel as there was a small bit of rain!!
Luckily this cleared by the morning, leaving a beautiful day in its wake!!...we were up strolling the sandy streets; being over taken by golf carts, the main mode of transport, at 8am in the morning...sweating buckets!!!!It was roasting!!!...luckily we were right next to the deep blue sea so we could easily cool off whenever we needed!!!....the water was a lovely temperature...didn't do much to cool us down, but did refresh us!!!
On the 2nd day here we decided to do a snorkel...Belize has the second biggest coral reef in the world so is well worth checking out.....we saw loads of coral and fish, as well as a moray eel, turtles, lobster, sting rays and nurse sharks......Shane even held the nurse shark.....it was a great snorkel with really clear water and loads to see...
The local cuisine with fresh fish and sides of beans, rice and coleslaw was second to none.......very tasty!...Our budget may have taken a hit for a few days...but we are planning to pull it back shortly!!!When it's so beautiful it is really hard not to indulge!!!:)
After some more cycling, with Shane very proud on his pink bike, we decided to head to Caye Caulker...the next island down.
