Cuenca is the 3rd largest city in Ecuador. It is in the Southern Andies of the country, so it meant we were staying up in the high altitude for a bit longer. We were heading south to Peru, but needed to break up the journey so we stopped off here for 2 nights. We had booked into a hostel, who didn't have any record of our booking...so we ended up in a room with 1 wall being a garage door...not only that but it was freezing and the bed was too small we couldn't...

Banos was our next destination from Quito. It is a town in the south central part of the Ecuadorian Andies. The town its self is located on the edge of a large canyon with a large river flowing through it. Banos is a very tourist based town and its main tourist attractions are its adventure activities like ziplining, rafting, canyoning and bridge jumping. We arrived late in the evening and all we had time to do was grab food. So we got "chifa" in other words C...

So we set off for the border expecting strict security checks due to the well known drug trade...however the reality was actually very quick and easy!! All in all it took about 45mins to pass from Colombia to Ecuador.....no baggage checks, and more importantly no fees!!! So we got a taxi to Tulcan, where we were jumping on a 6 hour bus to Quito. That all went pretty smoothly too, the only surprise of the day was how big Quito is...it seemed to go on and on and on...
