Today we have been back to Arrowtown for some lunch. I was really disappointed with my chicken pie and am sulking- well, telling Steve alot about how unfair it is- he had a lovely pie.
We go to visit a closed ski resort on the way back and then park up the car- lets walk up here a bit says Steve, "do you want to?". ( I later turned this into Duwer wanna? really wanna? Duwer? Why would you?
We tramp up hill to the bend, around the bend is another hill- lets just tramp up there says Steve- yes ok - up to the next bend. Should flatten out in a bit says Steve- lets just tramp up there. Yep, around the bend is another hill to tramp up and another bend. I ask "are we near the top yet?" Steve starts to say- "not quite yet" and when I ask where the top is he says"we won't know until we get there".
Thing is yesterday on our pleasant walk we had a packed lunch, spare clothing, chocolate etc. Today we have some dregs of water and some chewing gum somewhere in Steves bag. There is low level mist and IT IS FREEZING.
I try to be positive, put my head down and TRAMP. The trail is suprisingly dry and I am looking for a flat tray stone to slide all the way down on. We stop to finish the water and I take a video- I will try to down load it because I find it very funny -now- I sound so depressed and Steve is being ultra cheerful.
We are actually nearly at the top now so gues what- I start to run! I think my hormones are playing up. So I have been fell running! I run and I fell. (not really- I did run but did not fall over).
At the very top Steve tries to take a panoramic video but "someone was having a wee" so its not all around sound and vision.
The views are so amazing- we appear to be equal in height to the ski field. The path continues downwards now so we turn around to head back. The slopes are so steep that we begin jogging as its less tiring on our knees. Are we a sporty pair or not?
Not today or tomorrow- thats it for me. If we go up high to see mountains we are going the easy way. My tramping days are over.
