so today is saturday and we wake up in wellington at the base of the North Island.
We need breakfast so we find a wheat free cafe but it is not open til 10 so we move on to find another closed wheat free establishment- desparation!!
We end up striking gold finding a wholefood warehouse selling everything. I go a bit giddy at the choice and end up with a huge chocolate and raspberry muffin. Steve is very sensible and has a lovely soup. I totally forget to stock up on anything else.
We eat our breakfast on the harbour front and a really nice lady offers to take our photo. She is a bit confused because we want her to take a photo of us in front of the do not feed the ducks sign and we will not smile. In fact she makes a bit of a mess of it as you can't read the sign and steve is smiling (well trying not to laugh).
We go into the Te Papa mueseum but it isn't open yet so have to go into the cafe for a while. I try to make ammends by having a plum and then wreck my good intentions with- yes- a cup of coffee.
The Te Papa mueseum is fantastic and I absolutely love it! there was a live show put on for the kids about the earthquakes and how to keep safe- why it happens and all that- the kids go up on stage to help out and they are great. I get overcome with emotion and clap too long at the end.I get a big yellow bag full of emergency advice and I find out how to keep your goldfish safe.
The thought of going to visit Christchurch and all those children and families that are affected is sobering. Steve feels tired so we go back to the first cafe which is now open. Again I am overwhelmed by the choice. I get to eat a MEAT PIE! It is as wonderful as it sounds.
We go back to the hotel for a lie down and I ache a bit. I love new zealand.

I can just picture the confusion on the lady's face as you try and bark simple instructions to her - which all sound illogical to her - I mean why would the strange english couple have a photo and NOT smile??? Bless Steve, he did well not to laugh out loud. Sounds brilliant so far. Tasia xxxxx

Sam Ahhhhhh, I can't view the pics....think its cus in online on my phone. Please, please, please tell me we have the unhappy tourist pics on the go and I do hope you are impersonating the do not feed the ducks sign xxx
