After hearing all of the horror stories of over seas traveling, our trip here was pretty easy. The flight was on time, we got through customs and got our luggage quickly, caught the tube to the train station, walked around the King’s Cross/St Pancras area of London, and then had uneventful train ride up to York. Ellie was waiting for us at the train station and it was so wonderful to see her. We walked to our flat which is in a nice central part of York on the top floor of an apartment building. It was warm today but by Tuesday it could be 100 degrees, which could be the hottest day on record in England!
Once we got settled, we got some food at a street food market across from our flat. We spent the rest of the afternoon walking around York and getting to know the city. Three of us were working on no hours of sleep, so we all went back to the flat rested, showered and then got dinner from the local grocery store. We finished the night with a stop at a pub and Luke’s first “legal” beer.
Tomorrow: Ellie’s Graduation!
