Ellie really wanted me to have an English breakfast, so that was our first stop this morning. A fried egg, sausage, bacon, tomatoes, sourdough, and beans made for a complete and healthy breakfast. Today was to be a tourist day. We started at the York Castle Museum. It is housed in the former jail and consists of period rooms, a recreation of a historical York street, a cool WW1 exhibit and the actual jail cells. We spent a couple of hours there. Clifford’s Tower is one of the old towers that was used to protect York throughout the ages. It has had a number other roles as well. There is not a lot to it, if it is cool inside and offers great views of York from the top of the tower. We ate lunch at a street market called Spark. You order everything on your phone and they bring it to your table. Ellie had some fried Italian rice balls and I had empanadas and we both shared some buffalo fries. The phone here is used for everything. I have been using to charge everything because I have my credit card connected to it. I haven’t used any cash and I probably don’t need to carry my wallet around. All I need is my phone. After lunch we wanted to go to the minster, but it closed when we got there. We will probably try again on Friday. They are doing a lot of masonry work and the work yard is visible to the public. Not ready to go back, yet we walked over to King’s Manor where Ellie has some of her classes, and walked around a bit. After our savory lunch, we both needed a treat so we got some really good donuts. Being very full, we walked back to Ellie’s place to rest. Ellie is going to stay in tonight. I am heading back into the city center to a pub to watch Manchester City play a match. Tomorrow we are heading north to Edinburgh.
