Arrived here on tuesday and had a bad night as the roads had caused a crack in one corner of the van and we had a very wet bed during heavy rain. All fixed now.

Had a visit from brother Ian and caught up. He will be back next week to start his new pub. Most of the people here are from down south doing the same as us looking for warmth. Days are about 25 with the nights down to 15 with rain every day up to today. The locals keep telling us there are 300 sunny days a year so heres hoping.

Caught up with old friends Jim and Jeanette yesterday as they have just moved here. Called in at the local bowls club on the way home and booked a game for Sunday. Talking to some members I felt right at home- just like Crackerjack with an ethnic twist. Should be interesting playing here.

Am currently eating local peanuts and lots of fruit. This area seems to produce just about everything you need.

Off to the markets in Cairns tomorrow as it is only an hours drive away.
