Arrived in Mackay after overnight stays at Granite Creek and St Lawrence. Had fish and chips for lunch and chilli crab on the menu for tea. Been raining all morning but now windy and sunny.

Staying for two nights before the final 2 or 3 days to Mareeba. All the countryside is very green with lots of fat cattle which is a bit of a contrast to western Qld. Travelling is slow as there are roadworks stop lights about every 10 kms although they seem to be thinning out as we get further north.

This is only the second caravan park we have stayed at as we have been using the camp sites along the highway. Met some great people from all over the place. As soon as you stop and light a fire there is someone over for a chat. More photos tomorrow.
