Rather than staying in Wellington city for another night, where there wasn't that much to do we decided to stay in one of its suburbs and hopefully do a walk.
We regretfully told the rental company the CD player had packed up and en route to the next campsite had to stop at a garage for a repair. Surprise, surprise two garages later we were no nearer and now had to visit a different garage tomorrow as soon as we get off the ferry, great.
We found the site easily, it was on the edge of an Industrial estate but it seemed really nice, luxury compared to the DoC sites we'd stayed at the past few weeks. We pitched up Trevor (our old tent from Oz) as we needed to get away first thing in the morning for the ferry.
After speaking to the site management who advised warm clothing we set off on a walk to the top of the hill by the campsite. On the way up we were far too hot, it was a tough climb but once we got the the top the high winds made it really cold. The views were amazing, around 360 degrees were amazing mountains. In total the walk probably took a couple of hours but it was nice to arrive back at the campsite.
For tea we bought some local Muscles and cooked them in the camp kitchen, amazing, they were huge and green. We haven't eaten bad on this trip.
