As we'd expected from the scene last night, rain and fallen and the sand flies hadn't moved anywhere.
It was a mad dash to take down the tent in the rain and avoid the flies, they didn't even care it was pouring with rain. With a soaking tent (and most of the car) we decided to drive to the coast in search of better weather, none to be seen. The next three hours we were on the road it just rained and rained, visibility was really bad. With little other option we stop in the largest town for about 300 km in each direction and hired a cabin. Much cheaper than hotel rooms and on a par with hostel prices Cabins are available on campsites with basic facilities but would allow us to chill out and dry the tent over the next 24 hours.
There was very little for us to do but the cabin turned out to be a really good choice as it didn't stop raining all day, lets hope its better in the morning, otherwise we're going to have to head to the east coast!
