For the second time on our trip we packed away a wet tent at 6.00am and set off to the ferry port as we were travelling across to the south island on a cruiser which should take about three hours.
We got a bit of a panic on at one stage when there was an accident on the highway and we got stuck in traffic, we arrived with only 10 minutes to spare. We sat in some comfy chairs once on the ferry and caught up on the news. We found out that there has been a cyclone that has hit Fiji, killing two people. We will have to keep an eye on the situation over there as Fiji is supposed to be our next stop after here.
Just before lunch time we arrived in Picton and had to head straight to the car garage to get our car radio fixed. It took ages and would have taken even longer if Tom hadn't have done half of the job himself but eventually with a fully working radio we were on the road again, destination, Nelson.
The weather was awful and we followed the clouds all the way. We arrived at the campsite at about 4.00pm absolutely starving as we had missed lunch. We put up the tent just in time before the rain arrived. We cooked tea in the communal kitchen and sat in the tent for the rest of the evening trying to avoid the rain.
