The town of Leh has cold desert climate, long harsh winters from October to March, with occasional snowfall in winters, the weather is warm and pleasant during the day. Leh is connected to Srinagar by the Srinagar-Leh highway. Leh-Manali highway connects Leh with Manali. Both the roads are open on seasonal basis.

There are around 14% Muslims in Leh. Leh has a Sunni Muslim mosque. Itwas built in exchange of co-operation by the Nawab of Kashmir to the Delegs Namgyal as the Nawab arranged temporary removal of the Mughal army from Ladakh.
