Bikaner- Junagarh fort

Bikaner city is the organizational headquarters of Bikaner District and Bikaner division. It is located 330 kilometres, in the northwest of Jaipur.

Construction of the walls and moat of the fort, started in 1589 and was completed in 1594. Junagarh fort is situated in the Thar Desert and to its northwest it has the Aravalli ranges. Junagarh fort is constructed over 5.28 hectares of land and has several palaces, temples and exhibition areas in it. Records from the past show that despite repeated attacks by enemies on Junagarh fort, the fort was not conquered, except for a 1 day occupation by an enemy. The palaces and temples in the Junagarh fort are made of red sandstone and marble and the palaces are also very pretty.
