Meherangarh Fort

Jodhpur, located in Rajasthan, lies to the west of Jaipur. Jodhpur is a major tourist destination of India, because it has many forts, palaces and temples. It is located at the edge of the sunny Thar Desert.

The Meherangarh fort, located in Jodhpur, is one of the largest forts in India. There are several palaces inside the thick walls of the fort and the palaces are known for their intricate carvings. The fort is situated 400 feet above the city of Jodhpur and is enclosed by thick walls. Meherangarh fort has 7 gates, and the reasons based on which there are 7 gates, are different. Jai Pol was built by Maharaja Man Singh, because he defeated Jaipur and Bikaner in 1806.
