The Nubra Valley in the state of Jammu and Kashmir is an unforgettable destination when on a tour to North India. The Valley has an average elevation of 10,000 feet above sea level. When you travel through the Khardung La pass you might get high altitude sickness and that is why the authorities warn you to move off the pass as soon as you can. The pass is known to be the highest motorable road in the world, but it might not be true.
Animals like Kiangs, marmots, Bactrian camels and snow foxes can be seen here. Eagles can also been hovering in the sky as you descend the roads to Nubra. The weather here is extremely chilly but from then on as you get closer to Nubra it becomes very pleasant and welcoming. The main village settlement in Nubra is the Diskit village. Another good settlement is the Hunder village.
