I woke up in Aswan this morning and went down stairs to meet the group of people I had agreed to take to the temple of Isis at Philae. Dave and Sarah were also down there, planning on going to the nobles tombs, but they changed their mind and ended up coming along with me.
I had organised a mini bus to take us to the temple and then we had to haggle for a boat to take us to the island. The temple was as beautiful as I remembered it four years ago, when I had come on the cruise ship with Mum and Dad, and Ramez had taken us there.
I showed Kath and Siobhan around and actually got asked by the tourist police if I was a guide, to which I quickly replied no and that I wasn't being paid either, which seemed to satisfy them.
We spent about an hour at Philae and then we went back to the hotel. I called Ramez to see if he was around and he was actually on a cruise ship docked in Aswan. The ship was leaving at 1pm, but we managed to meet up for an hour and catch up in McDonalds, which was nice.
For the rest of the day Siobhan and I just slobbed around. We ended up going to the Basma hotel and took Kath with us and lounged around by the pool and swim up bar all day. At the end of our perfect day, we sat in the lobby of the incredibly kitsch hotel drinking hibiscus juice, Kath said "Cheers ladies" and we raised our glasses and I said "From prison to paradise".
