Having arrived late last night in the dark at Boulogne, I reviewed the weather forecasts and decided we should cross back to England. Boulogne is rather down in the mouth as observed during our 12 hour stay. It used to be a ferry port but we did not see any ferries, unlike Calais which has 3 an hour. We set off at 8:15 with the centre of the low pressure over us. At 10 o'clock the wind dropped to almost nothing and started spinning round causing the wind instruments to spin rapidly. This was cyclonic wind at it's very best. An hour later, the heavens opened and it poured for 90 minutes. Having become a wise hand with all the rain on this trip, I sat down below with the washboards in whilst the rest of the crew got soaked. Fortunately it stopped and did not rain for the rest of the day. The wind got up and we reefer down for a good sail to Eastbourne arriving at the lock at 17:00. This is a purpose built Marina complex with multiplex cinema and shopping mall. It is rather sole less. We are getting close to home now as we have been receiving Solent coastguard for the last 24 hours. Tomorrow we are off the Brighton.

Alex. Dont get too excited about Brighton Marina - and its an interesting entrance especially in a lee shore wind!
Tim & Sevi It is great that you got across to France. I remember a day trip to Bologne with the the school when I was about 14. It was a nice ferry port then and although I struggled to learn French in the classroom, I was amazed how much French I learnt in one day when I really needed to. Peter we are likely to be in the Southampton area next weekend for various reasons. Would be great to welcome you all back - please post us with likely timing and details. Tim & Sevi
Neil Almost there .... Enjoy your last few days of the voyage.
