It rained for a 13th day out of the last 14 but only a shower! The wind and sea state have died completely and so we needed to motor most of the day. Last night had dinner in the Royal Northumberland yacht club. Left Blyth at 8am and arrived at Whitby at 16:30. Very different landscape today as we came past Newcastle, Sunderland and Middlesborough. The industry stood out compared to the fishing industry and old ports of SE Scotland. Saw huge number of dolphins in Sunderland bay, at least 5 groups of 6 in each. They were doing spectacular jumping including vertical jumps. Whitby is vey busy with tourists, fish and chips and a regatta. We walked up to the ruined abbey on the hill and enjoyed the late afternoon and sun. Tomorrow planning to sail to Lowestoft which will is 155 miles away and will take us 30 hours. So all being well we should arrive on Tuesday afternoon, assuming we dodge the oil platforms on our route.

Neil Hi Peter, have been tracking progress through your blogs from sunny Lymington. It seems an age since we met you storm-bound on your first leg! Hope you all have a great trip down to Lowestoft with sunshine and clear nights.
