I'm really getting tired of typing this, but Verona is another absolutely beautiful city that you can just throw away the map and walk around the old city. Verona is well known for being the setting for Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, although the city is much different now than it was when that play was written. Our hostel was actually located in a 16th century villa overlooking the city, so it was one of our better hostels in terms of location and the building. Verona actually has a fully intact Arena from the first century AD that looks exactly like the Colloseum in Rome, I had no idea Verona also had an arena like that. The city also has a very well preserved castle, drawbridge and all, with another huge bridge with towers that crosses the river. So...the main sites were amazing, the city was amazing to walk through, everything was amazing. Typical Italy. However, the highlight was our dinner. One thing I wanted in Italy was to have a really traditional meal and we found one. We walked around the outskirts of the old city until we found a restaurant off the beaten path. And it was perfect, almost the entire clientelle were locals, and nobody spoke English. I had the best tortellini of my life. The pasta over here really is better, you can just tell. By the way, almost all of the Italians we have met have been really nice, only good experiences so far. I've heard the Italians are often rude like the French. Not so, the Italians have been very welcoming and helpful. Also, Vernoa is a city that deserves at least a couple of days, unfortunately we had to leave the next morning.
