With three days left on our trip, we decided to spend a little time in Portugal. We took a bus from Sevilla to Lagos, Portugal which is on the southern coast of the country. From there we took a train up to Lisbon. This way, we were able to see a lot of the Portugese countryside despite not being able to spend much time in the cities. Not surprisingly, Portugal is fairly similar to Spain in terms of the climate and landscape. Lisbon turned out to be a much bigger city than I expected. A kid at our hostel in Sevilla compared Lisbon to San Francisco and I think that was a good comparison after seeing the city. Lisbon is also located in a bay, it´s very hilly, and there are lots of cable cars going up the steeper hills. We´ve had some of the best hostels of our trip in Spain and our hostel in Lisbon was just as good. Lisbon has a castle on top of one of the city´s hills which provided views of the city from above. The castle was fun to walk around because you were able to go wherever you wanted without being redirected by a tour guide. Access to all of the towers and walls was available. Anyway, most of our time in Lisbon was spent just walking around the city, not necessarilly sightseeing. But now that we´re at the end of our trip that´s become a typical day for us.
