So now that our return deadline has been set for November 18th, we have to do as many cities as possible in our last two weeks. That means doing Italy in one week and Spain/Portugal in the second week. Rome will have to be skipped, because I don't want to try to do Rome in only one day. Therefore, we'll do as many cities in northern Italy as possible this week, trying to do one city for lunch and a second city for dinner. Our first train from Venice was to Padua (Padova) for breakfast and lunch. As soon as we got off the train we went straight to the center of town and had breakfast in the main square overlooking the town's biggest cathedral. Padua's main cathedral was huge and magnificent like all the other cathedrals in Europe, but what made this one different is that it is named after Saint Antonio, who is a big deal in Italy. But not only was the cathedral named after him, it still contains his body inside...in separated parts. We saw his jaw, vocal cords, and tongue. Very creepy, and the jaw was very much intact. After seeing the Basillica di Saint Antonio we spent about another hour sight seeing the city and the main sights. But due to our time constraints, we had to leave the city by one in the afternoon. I would have liked to spend more time there, but we have our priorities so on to the next city.
