New Orleans was Awesome!! Amazing buildings, amazing music and just loads of fun.

The first day we did some sightseeing heard about how most of the people who's houses were badly damaged in Katrina are still trying to get money from the insurance companies and probably will never be able to come back. Saw the levy and learnt about how they work and all the underground workings they have pumping water all around the place to avoid disaster. Unfortunately with Katrina they had to evacuate the people who run all these pumps so they didn't help. They are now going to build secure buildings so that there can always be people there to man the pumps.

Now off to Bourbon Street for some drinks and music both of which were available in large quantity. Even had ourselves a hand grenade which is apparently the strongest drink in New Orleans. They wouldn't say what was in it but it was quite tasty.

We were lucky and it turned out that the French Quarter Festival was starting the next day so we also had a day at that. More fun, music and drinking!
