On the drive from Banff to Jasper we saw five bears and numerous other cute beasties. The first two we saw were running along side the road. The third one I spotted walking along the hill above us, so we stopped along with another car. We couldn't see it and Jim was walking along the road and someone yelled out 'behind you' he thought they were joking and turned around and the bear was running across the road about 100m away from Jim. The fourth one Jim saw disappear into the woods and the last one was happily munching away on the side of the road seemingly oblivious to the paparazzi. We didn't see any grizzlys but a lot of other people had that day.

Now I loved seeing all these bears with the safety of the van nearby but the fact that you see this many just from the road suggests to me that the woods must be swarming with them so I can't see myself doing a hike into the woods any time soon.

Spent the next day looking at all the lakes around, Jim was loving it, I have to admit I was feeling a bit travel weary and spent more time reading my book.
