Hey Everyone. Merry Christmas.
This is my last blog before Christmas. Internet closed until 28th. 25th and 26th are public holidays, as are the 27th and 28th (polling day and results day)
Things might get a little crazy around results day and polling day. Keep an eye out on the internet news about any violence in Kenya...Hoping it will be OK.
Went to project on Sunday and took some of the kids to Nakumat and bought sausages and spuds (to make chips) to cook for them on my last day.
Thewn I played musical chairs and sleeping lions again with them but they got really upset when they lost so we had to stop.
Tumaini has a new kid thats been abandoned. His name is George and he's 2 and a half but looks younger. He doesn't move or talk much - He's HIV positive. He's from upcountry - He's so dark!
Bought the staff at Tumaini presents and wrote things in Swahili (with help from Naomi) on the labels. Private jokes between me and each mama.
We went to Magongo (near the airport, Chuck and Ed's project) to see Chuck off. There was this mob as we walked towards the airport, and they'd caught a thief. They were beating him. This is what happens in Kenya.
So we were watching them beat the living s*** out of him. Then they picked him up by the feet and slammed him into the ground head first.
We left them but Bokey (project leader in Magongo) told us it often turns intro lynching. Sometimes the police are called but because no witnesses would come to court the policeman just tells the mob to finish the job.
Bokey said the way that lynching happens in Magongo is that they put a tyre over the person, pour petrol on it and set it alight. Brutal but fair! And kids watch this.
Going to watch Restoration kids sing today, and feed some street kids tonight, but then sleep at Tumaini. Christmas day with the kids, then all the volunteers are going to Magongo for a proper African Chrsitmas Street Party. Should be good!
Hope you all have a really good Christmas! Text me on Christmas day or something.
