Hey Everyone. CRAZY few days...don't know where to start.
Well I went for a meal on Friday night with Emer to the chinese. Then everyone went out to Tembo and it was one of the best night's I've had out here...packed out.
Saturday afternoon I went to the Voyager hotel with Chuck and Beccy and then on the evening I took Beccy intop Tumaini for an hour before the kids went to bed. Getting there on the matatu was crazy as it was rush hour...
Sunday morning I went to mass with Chuck because we wanted to see if it was any different. Now I'm not Catholic but it's similar. He thought the English service started at 8:30 so we got there at 8:20. It actually started at 8 so we were late. Nothing much to say except that it was quite similar apparently. Very busy in church though!
We then went to the Old Law Courts and had a look about. It was kinda dull until we got to try on some old Kenyan clothes...me and Chuck looked kinda funny...got some pics which I will upload whenever I can.
We then went to Mombasa Cultural Market aka 'CRAP ALLEY' They just have stalls selling the same necklaces, wristbands and wooden oraments all the way down. It's quite fun bartering with them and I got a few things.
Sunday night me and Emer went for Pizza and then bowling. It was her last night before she left. When we got back to the flat we sat on the balcony from 11pm to 2:30 am just talking.
Oh, and our housemaid came to me, Ed and Chuck and told us that one of the street kids that she feeds has cut his foot and its infected and he's quite ill. So I agreed to come with her tommorow and take him to the hospital.
They live in an abandoned petrol station, and he did not look well. He might be about my age, maybe a bit younger.
Took him to the nearby hospital but it was too expensive for treatment so took him to the nearest government run one where we waited for hours and then got seen. They squeezed the pus from his foot, gave him a tetanus injection and prescribed some antibiotics.
The whole thing cost be 1500KSH (about12 quid) and I now go see him twice a week to clean the wound, change his bandage and give him his medication.
Went with Emer to the airport in the evening which was gutting because she was my best mate out here =[
It was my turn to go to hospital yestarday. Couldn't stop being sick and was too hot. Felt awful. After a long wait I found out it was a stomach infection - gastroenteritis. I got an injection to stop me being sick so I could drink water and some strong painkillers and antibiotics. Cost quite a bit too.
Anyway I was sat on the bed with my sleeve rolled up waiting for this injection, and the nurse came in a ignored my arm, so I sort of offered her my other arm to which she shook her head. It was at this point I realised it was an injection in the arse...just great.
So thats the news. Hope everything is OK at home.
