Neil's Round the World Trip!
Today I got up early and discovered the Schizo German has been ejected as he was going cold turkey from his heroin and is now back on the streets. Everyone in my dorm is pretty relieved about that.
Me and James walked around downtown Santiago and chilled in Barrio Brasil near the Universidad de Republica. I start my Spanish lessons today with Jesus (my Peruvian Spanish teacher) it's 4 hours a day, intensive but hey it's worth it in the long run as I'll be able to interact more with locals and the lifestyle.
I like the city centre, there are loads of stray dogs running around (they don't look rabid) and boot polishers. The women are quite scantily clad in general even office workers wear really short skirts. Ok well got to go oh I'm 4 hours behind the UK. Also my phone is now only my UK O2 sim as my international dpesn't work!!!
Later I went back to the hostel and had my first lesson with Jesus. It went really well, muy bueno. I then had a BBQ with Roberto (Chilean) James, 2 Aussies and an American girl from D.C. The steak was delicious, best I've ever tasted. Earlier I met a Scottish girl who came up and hugged me because she was delighted to hear another Scot's accent ( I think it was an excuse to get a hug). We went to a bar later and we had whisky (huge measures here) and pisco sours.
