Wayne's & Bonnie's Travels
We looked out the hotel window when we got up and could see the Rotterdam. She sure looked pretty. After grabbing breakfast at the hotel we had time to do some more sightseeing in Dover. We walked up a large hill to see Dover Castle which overlooks the city. It originally was built by the Romans and there are still some of the original towers standing. We toured the castle and then went through the tunnels that are underneath in the white cliffs. There are miles of them. They were used as a hospital in WWII and was the safe place for the Royal Family during the Cold War. It was time to head back to the hotel and get ready to bard the ship. We took a cab to the port. Bonnie had never been close up to a cruise ship and it seemed huge to her. We found our cabin (an oceanview) and then explored the ship. When we got back to our cabin our luggage was there, but the wheeled cart was missing. I went to the passengers services desk and to my surprise, they had it there. Sail away was awesome with great views of the White Cliffs. We had asked for late dining and a table of 6. We got very lucky. Our dining mates were two sisters and their husbands. They were wonderful slightly older couples. They had been on this itinerary before and were able to give us great tips throughout the cruise.
