Wayne's & Bonnie's Travels
We got to Budapest on time but our bags didn't. They are due to arrive tonight. Flights here were fine except the 3 hours of a screaming (not just crying) baby 3 rows behind us on the flight from Reno to Chicago. The taxi service we used worked great - he was waiting for us with a sign with our name. Got to the hotel around 2:00. We went for a walk and a couple of beers at a sidewalk café. Beer is cheap here - 2 large beers came to about $3.50US. After resting we went out to find some dinner. We found a series of outdoor restaurants and decided to eat at the busiest one - good choice. It was the Café Vian and the food, service (Peter) and price were wonderful. We decided to go with local Hungarian food. We both had goulash appetizer. Bonnie had Hungarian chicken and dumplings and I had a sampler of Hungarian cold foods. We were both stuffed. So far we are very impressed with Budapest. People and friendly and very polite. We feel very safe. As we have found elsewhere in Europe, there is a lot of smoking but fortunately it is not allowed anywhere inside.
