Wayne's & Bonnie's Travels
The morning was spent on a bus/walking tour of Lyon. A large basilica, which sits on a hill above the city, was our 1st stop. We had a great view of the city and the Saone and Rhone rivers. The bus tour continued to go around the city, which really is quite pretty. It is a large city but seems much less hectic and crowded than Paris. The last stop was an hour walking tour around the old midieval section of town. We had the option of taking the bus back to the ship or walking back. Of course, we chose to walk. It took about 45 minutes with frequent stops to window shop and take pictures. After lunch we went back out to walk along the Saone. There were 2 large swimming pools along the way they had built in the hope of attracting the Olympics which were full of swimmers. Beyond the pools there were old barges that have been converted to bars and clubs. It was getting quite warm so headed back to the ship. That evening Viking had some local singers and a sax player play for us in the lounge - they were surprisingly good. After the show it was still warm outside so we took another walk along the river.
