Day 8; From Najera to Granon 27 km's.
Had plans of leaving early to beat the heat, got up and organized, down to the kitchen to get our breakfast that for the first time we had brought and the kitchen was closed, so went back to bed.... Lol
Lovely morning walk thru the fields of patchwork with the sun behind us, such pretty colours over the rolling hills. Arrived in Santo Domingo for lunch, and decided to walk an extra 7 km's to Granon a small little village nestled on top of a hill. Very warm walking and arrived exhausted and properly dehydrated. Staying in a Alberque run by volunteers, sleeping on mats in big room, in a amazing place an original pilgrim hostel dating back to 13th century. Payment was a donation, and we were invited to help prepare dinner and have an communal dinner, pretty special.
Spent a couple of hours in the local bar and did a small shop, ate Marie biscuits and cheese in the main street what a crack up.
Highlight of the day having foot massage from Carlos and rubbing ice on the them at the local bar.
Having happy hour with Bill, Sue, Fran's and Connie,
Every one being asked to sing their national Athens at the dinning table except for the Aussies.
