I am sitting at a table in the Agora at the University, notes in front of me, a 25 page study guide staring at me on my screen and some blank sheets of paper sprawled out to begin trying to grasp this European Union class. 18 chapters of a book that is so dull it puts me to sleep within the first 5 minutes of reading it. I often forget that I am in Europe for class credit and an actual grade. I cannot believe we already have our final for our Business Environments and European Union class tomorrow morning. Procrastination does not even begin to define how I approached this class. It has been rainy and cold all day which makes having to study and get things done easier but still I feel pretty overwhelmed/nervous for this test at 8:00am.
Since today was my only day to get things done before I leave for Greece tomorrow at noon, I decided to have an "productive" day. This morning I did laundry with Lindsey, Michelle and Baylee and somewhat tried to organize myself and repack for our upcoming 5 day trip to Greece. In the midst of that I had to take a break for class and a chocolate company tour for International Marketing, and then I went back to the apartment to finish packing and start studying. I opted out of shopping with the girls and spent the afternoon in productivity mode by myself. I knew if I was going to get anything done I needed to be by myself to really focus. I got quite a bit done. I got packed, read over Michelle's notes (she takes way better notes than me so thank God for her) and even folded and organized all my other clothes and the mess of suitcases I had going on.
After I was done with that I packed my backpack and headed toward the train station. Starbucks in the train station downtown had caught my eye last week when we were there and since I have become pretty comfortable with the city I thought it would be a perfect place to study. I got to Starbucks and got my coffee. The place was packed and loud and within minutes a met a nice lady…halfway through I realized that it was not a lady but a man dressed in a dress and A LOT of makeup. Starbucks clearly was the more distracting choice and I was not going to get anything done so I packed up and headed to the University. Now I am sitting here, trying to focus my mind on all this information only to find myself distracted by anything but what I should be studying. My professor for this class is sitting a few tables away from drinking a beer. I am considering going over there and offering to buy him a few more in return for some answers on my test :)
I am very excited for five straight days of sleeping in, laying on the beach and just exploring Greece. At this time tomorrow we will be in Greece! It is our only five says off of school over here so we are going to enjoy every minute of it! Anyways, I should get back to studying. Hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend! We will update you at somepoint when we are in Greece! -Melanie
