Yey! Finally, cooking class day! Only taken us two weeks to turn up!! We turned up 3 minutes late 9:18 and no sign of anyone, so I rang the company and the guy said gail, our cook had been and gone we missed it! :( but she came back for us, thank god! She took us on a walk around Kao San to a market to pick ingredients like lemongrass, it stunk of fish and we were ready to throw up! But some of the food looked yummee :D and then on the way to the kitchen we stopped at a few stalls to get other things such as prawns for annie, as she's a veggie :)
When we were there I made a Thai green curry with pork :) it was delish! Making the curry paste is an effort though, I had to hammer all the ingredients together for 15minutes to make it all mushy... Had a proper dead arm! It was worth it though, then we made a sweet and sour prawn soup, it was alright but could not face eating prawns with a hangover i was ready to bork! Then egg pad Thai, this was the best one as its so easy and simple and so cheap to make I'm living off of the stuff here! So I'm deffo gonna bring my new found pad Thai stills back to England! And because it's veggie I feel safer than eating the chicken here, one of my lady's ( thanks Amy) got me to thinking about how many wild cats and dogs and other animals are on the loose here, and I've only seen 3 chickens... So ive just been picking around the meat! Ha! Then lastly she showed us how to make Thai pumpkin in coconut milk, it took 2 minutes it's literally warmed coconut milk in a pan and then added the pumpkin! I would have preferred to have actually baked something from scratch but the Thais don't seem so be big on desert so I went with it... Anyway I can already do a pretty amazing satay chicken chicken skewers with peanut butter sauce, so now I should be able to make a pretty mean banquet when I get home, come dine with me? Here I come!
At the end she gave me a little a certificate bless her and I got her to write my name in Thai! (I was thinking tattoo ideas ;)
After cooking class in the afternoon we had a few hours to chill before leaving on the night coach at 6 (which obviously in Thai time set off at 7!) so we decided to get a massage I wanted an oil massage rather than a Thai one, the last one I had she just beat me up and hurt as I was still clothed! The oil massage was an hour long and only cost £4 (200baht) sold! As soon as we went in I showed her my tragus, and said "I've just had piercing done, no touch!" she was like "oh?" and went to look at it then pushed it in with her finger!!! Stupid woman! Can you not see I'm in pain!?!? I flinched right away and said "no, no, cannot touch!" it now f***ing kills! Sorry for language nan, but there's no other way to describe the pain!
So she said "no touch, no touch, okay, okay" and began massaging annie, another woman came to do me, I got the big fat butch 6footer! She was good though it was so much more relaxing than a thai massage I could fall to sleep! 45 minutes in, I'm so relaxed and listening to the soothing music then she started a head massage.
She went on to click my neck either side by holding her hand on my shoulder, and pressing the other hand against my head, yes right in my god damn ear!!! Ooouucchhh!!!! I shot up and maybe did a little squeal :s everyone is out to sabotage my piercing! So it's now throbbing! She said "oh sorry, sorry she not tell me she forget, I not know"! Yeah whatever b**** just spoil my massage why don't you, money back please? Ha! No I let her carry on it wasn't her fault but The last ten minutes I was just hoping it would be over, I was too tense and annoyed!!! I didn't tip... :/
That night, we had a long drive to get to the islands. The coach we first got on was down the street from our room, it was a double decker coach which was all kitted out, you could rent it as a party coach. The seats reclined right back so you can sleep and they have blankets as its freezing! E watched pirates of the Caribbean for first few hours then I can't remember the name of the second film, it was a BBC film based on a true story about an old man who wants to learn how to read and write in English so he can read a letter he has received, it started off crap but I really got into it and started to feel so sorry for him I couldn't wait to see how it ended and then, half way through it started jumping and then cut out so they turned it off, great! Il sit here in the freezing cold darkness and stare at the ceiling for the remaining 10hours :/
