I was woken around 7am to the sound of a cockerel doing its usual morning thing. Had breakfast then headed off from the village around 9am to do another 3 hours trekking, hard work given the heat that was coming down.
Around 12.30pm we got to the elephant sanctuary and had some lunch. And guess what, there was rice somewhere in there with some spring rolls thrown in for good measure.
At the entrance of this open building I noticed a monkey sat with a woman just having a nap. The monkey eventually woke up and started playing around jumping here there and everywhere. It couldn't get too far though as it was chained up so it wouldn't run off. Just before the elephant ride I put my bottle of water down on the table where the monkey was, a new bottle, not opened, and the monkey came running over and grabbed my bottle and opened the thing with his teeth. The little s***. I had a hold of the bottle whilst the monkey was doing this so I squeezed it and the monkey got a face full of water. Funny at the time.
We then got onto the elephants, 2 people per elephant, and then headed up into the forest and back down through the river. It was amazing, feeding them bananas whilst riding on the back of them. It was hard enough trying to stay in the seat. Also in tow was a little mischievious baby elephant, oining the hell out of the others and then rolling around in the river.
After that we got in a pick-up and headed to a waterfall for a swim. It was so refreshing, especially after trekking in the jungle for so long. It was then time to head to the river to do the white water rafting and the bamboo rafting.
The white water rafting was a good laugh but it wasn't really that 'white water' as it is the end of the dry season. The bamboo rafting was good as 4 of us got onto a raft and did nothing, we just let the guy at the front steer us with his bamboo stick.
It was very relaxed on there until another raft came near us and all we could hear was the sound of 3 noisy f***ing japs screaming like girls at everything they encountered. It was a lot worse when they were behind us on the rapids when there were a few so called white water experiences! Thing is one of them was a lad but they all laugh really high pitched. What made it even funnier is when their raft fell to bits and they were all stranded in the water.
It was getting to the end of the day and we finished at the bottom of the river. It was time to head back so we all got dried off then to be told that on the way home there will be people at the side of the road throwing water at us. The thing is everytime all these kids were at the side of the road the driver kept stopping so we had no option but to get soaked, and there was a lot of stops!
After about the third time of stopping we decided to start getting them back so me and two other lads stood on the back of this pick-up like a milk float and jumping off and threw full buckets back at them. There ended up being about three inches of water in the back of the pick-up at the end.
We arrived back at about 6.30pm so I headed off and grabbed some tea. Later on I went and met Aussie Linda and went for a few beers, kicked these two Brummies ass at pool on the most pissed table ever, went to a go-go bar to laugh at them and then headed off home for some much needed sleep.
