Today was Boo's 6th b'day and also the day we had to say goodbye to half of the 'the Frenchmans' crew. The honeymooners had to get a move on to be back in Cairns and so they offered to help Dale and Kerry out by travelling back together and Mick was going too. We saw the crocodile going past the beach again, had become a regular occurrence in the morning. Was beginning to think it was urban legend this thing about crocs in the ocean, but yea it's true!
I made boo's breaky choice of bacon and eggs anx did the gift giving. She was very excited to receive ger very own purple camera, some scrapbooking stuff and a scrabble game. Boo was so excited to recieve a pressie from Angie and Rod. Angie made a bag for her the day before, really sweet and she loves it so much, hasnt taken it off all day!! Boo went round taking happy snaps of everyone before it was time we all had to say farewell.
Was a very sad moment as it felt like our cape adventure was over. We also were saying goodbye to some awesome people we now call good mates and vow to keep in touch. This adventure to the 'tip' was ours and we would all hold these created memories in our minds forever!
After we waved half the Frenchmans crew goodbye, it was Angie and Rox, the Germans and us left. The camp site was quiet as we took a moment. Then l made my first ever cake for boo's b'day in a camp oven over the coals. It turned out better than l could have imagined! A chocolate fudge cake, packet mixing you, but still it looked spectacular and thanks to Angie's advice of putting a bit of water in the bottom of the camp oven it turned out spectacular!
We all then had lunch and then headed off for a short drive to find the airoplane wrecks and also to Mutee Bay for a look around. We first found the wrecks just outside of Bamaga off a bush track. It was amazing to see how formed the plane was with not as much corrosion as l thought. Was an eary place were we knew history had been made and deaths as well. We all walked around in silence trying to imagine what would have been going through their minds at the time. It was so bloody hot though and we all sweltered in 35oC plus day. Once in the car the air conditioner was getting used today!!
We headed off to Mutee Bay and it was stunning. Glorious soft sand and blue ocean. We had a walk along the beach which is all we could do although we all wanted a swim!! Blasted croc country! Next we went in search of another war ruin, a radar communication tower. It stood rusted tall near the coast, l can only imagine how useful this would have been on the past.
We headed back through Seisha and checked out the pier. There were a few local aboriginals having a swim and trying to sink a little tinny. I know l was watching just wanting to join them but couldn't. One for fear of the crocs and two, l didn't want to impose on their fun.
Got back to loyalty beach and had an iceceeam we'd been promising the girls for days. Then it was time for a cook up of boo's favorite meal at the moment, Fiona's chicken pasta was the request.
Angie, Rod and the Germans joined us around the camp fire for boo's b'day tea, then followed by her cake. It tasted better than it looked and the Germans seemed to enjoy their first taste of chocolate in a while. After we sung happy b'day and had the cake we said goodnight. I think Boo had a great day and l can definately say it was the most relaxed b'day celebration we have ever had. No big pressies pressure, no big cake to make or party to cater. Just had the day to spend together and relax, it was great!!!
