Oh Lordy what a night was had last night. Apparently l had drank the whole 2L cask of wine! Woke up feeling like l was gonna die, head aching and stomach churning. I knew it was going to be a long day........
It was heating up and the sun made me feel worse. Up until 1:30pm l couldn't hold any fluids down and proceeded to vomit about six or so times. Couldn't eat and everything l tried to drink would eventually come up, and the heat just made me more thirsty. Marty gave me sympathy up until lunch and looked after the girls but then he'd had enough and wanted me to get my butt into gear. Angie was sweet and came over to check on me a few times and got me some cold drinks. All l could do was lie on the rug under the tree but eventually l had to move. So up the hill l went to have a shower, a long cold shower. Geez l wish l had done this earlier as l felt semi human making my way back to camp. Marty got me a can of coke zero which l skulled down and hey presto, l felt l could function a bit. Vowed that wouldn't be going that hard on the wine ever again, one of the worst hang overs I'd ever had.
Earlier in the morning our part for the Nissan turned up and Marty had fit it, $520 later and the car was back sounding normal. After l came back from the shower Angie and l both sort of hinted to each other that we should pack up and move on seeing the car was fixed. With nowhere to cool off and nothing holding us here we convinced the boys that we should pack up. It was 2pm and the boys looked at us thinking we had gone barmy, but they agreed, just to shut us up l think!! By 3pm we had packed up, got a few things from the grocery shop and filled up with diesel ready to head off with no real set destination. We made our way down the development road and got to Musgrave Roadhouse, it was 5pm. We had heard that the development road from here on in was pretty rough so we asked the woman who owned the roadhouse for her opinion. She seemed to think it was ok and only a little rough just outside of Laura. So with that we decided to keep going until we got to Hann River Roadhouse, about an hour down the road. We arrived at 6pm to be greeted by this young vibrant woman who owned the roadhouse. She made the girls feel special and even organised for the big cannon sprinkler to go on for the girls to cool off. She had a couple pf girls the same age as Boo and Meg so the girls were in heaven. They played under the sprinkler with Georgia while we set up. The place was amazing, with lush green grass in the camping grounds and rustic charm decorated the place. They had an old telegraph pole from the track standing at the entrance that had the insulators still attached, huge logs around everywhere that had been chisseled out to make bench seats and also amazing wildlife roaming around from peacocks, ginea fowl, kookaburras, cows and even an emu. After we set up we decided it was too late to cook, plus l needed a big feed as l hadn't eaten all day. We went over to the roadhouse and had an unbelievably delicious huge hamburger with the lot, it was the best hamburger l had has in ages! Angie and Rod secretly paid for the meal knowing that we wouldn't have let them shout us after everything they had given us on ghd trip, such giving people. The girls happily played with the other girls whilst we sat around embracing our surrounds and reminiscing about last night and good times had on the trip. This was to be our last night together as we would be parting ways tomorrow, with us heading to Mt Carbine and Rod and Angie making their way to Cairns. It felt like we had been travelling together forever and we couldn't even remember the feeling of being by ourselves. It has been four and a half weeks of being surrounded by who we calm great mates. Will be very sad to say goodbye to them tomorrow.
We headed back over to our tent and ended the night by having a shower in this cool makeshift bathroom. It was a small corrugated iron walled room with a concrete floor and had no roof so while l showered l stared up at the stars thinking how cool this was. It also me thinking that l wouldn't mind us doing something like this, running a roadhouse/campground in theidfle of nowhere, whether temporarily or for short permanent time. Will have to wait and see what the future brings us and opportunities arise. Would be great to meet all the people from different walks of life......
