Got to Mount Carbine at 11:00am, pretty different from what we've been experiencing up the coast. The landscape is dry and dirt. The caravan park is much the same. Very basic with power and bore water (obviously not consuming) and amenities. Its cheap at $18/night and we get to leave the vam here for nothing while we do The Cape.
We quickly set up camp just doing the basic as were only staying a night. Spent the arvo sorting out our stuff we needed for the next 3 weeks. Once we finished this we decided the girls needed to burn off some energy so did a lap of the caravan park. Saw they had a few pools (with no water) and a tennis court (with no net) and also a water feature that was dry as a chip. Cracked us all up!!! Wondered what this park would have been like back in it's prime, probably pretty good. Anyhow, got our tennis rackets and had a hit. Had been a while, think since Gold Coast, since we'd played and the girls always love it. Was a great arvo of family fun and giggles. Ended the day with Boo's new favorite dish, Fi's chicken pasta and a magnificant sunset (blig pic). The sky was an array of colors from pink, orange and purple. It was beautiful and bet they will get better as we head up north.
All in all a lazy but productive day. All very excited to be finally starting this dream of ours to Cape York, the northern most tip of Australia.
