Our time in the Gold Coast has nearly come to an end, one more night and then we pack up and head to Moreton Island for a week. Looking forward to seeing how we all go with not having tv, computers and possibly no phones!!! Should be interesting to say the least.
Our week in Gold Coast has been uneventful but tiring. We arrived from Byron Bay on Sunday 31st July, only taking around 2 hours to get here. The short drive was good for a change and the girls definately were shocked when we said we'd arrived!! Lol.
We are staying at Bigerra Waters, near Labrador, at Treasure Island Holiday Park and if anyone is coming up to the Gold Coast l would definately recommend this park. It is 10 minutes drive to central Gold Coast, around 15-20 mins drive to the theme parks, and has bakers, butchers, supermakets, the works in 5 mins walking distance. Also across the road is Harbortown DFO which has been cool to check out, scored a few bargains for the girls.
Anyhow, for the first few days we bummed around and did nothing really. Swam in the pool, went into Gold Coast and took the girls on monorail and checked out the DFO. On Wednesday, 3rd August we decided to go to Movieworld and Marty and l hadnt told the girls where we were going, well Boo nearly wet herself with excitement!!! The girls had an awesome time and we spent most of the day checking out the shows in the main street and also hanging out at the Looney Tunes area. The girls loved the 'rode runner rollercoaster", however, they both crapped their pants the first time which was hilarious. They did all the rides in the area about twice each and would have kept going if we would let them. Luckily for Boo she was able to go on a few adult rides such as the 'Scoobie Doo Rollercoaster", "Batman Ride No. 2" and "Batman Wing" ride. Have come to the conclusion that she is our dare devil and my ride buddy from now on. She would have gone on the others with me if she was tall enough. I went on the "Superman" ride by myself and luckily a kid had warned me up of what to expect, but l still shat myself and had a ball at the same time. Tried to talk Marty into going on it but he didnt want to..... We saw the stunt car show which we thought the old police academy show was better and also the street parade at the end, which was awesome and the girls loved it and had a dance. After a full day there we were all exhausted, for a few days after l reckon.
For the rest of the week we just played putt putt golf, tennis, the girls went on the jumping pillow and these ride on carts around the park, and also did some more swimming. The time has flown, we didnt even get to the beach. Maybe we were all beached out from Byron and know that we are going to be surrounded by beaches on Moreton Island!!!
One awesome thing that happened was that we met this great couple, Mike and Jacinta, and their nearly 3 year old son Trent on the first day of arriving and hung out everyday with them. It was great to be able to talk to someone other then each other and the girls loved having a little friend, Meg especially was cute with Trent. They are from Seaford in Victoria and were on holidays for 3 weeks. We got some great advice about travelling around oz from them as they have done it a few times prior to kids. We had a BBQ on the last night together and hung out all day having a laugh, it was great to meet them, awesome people.....
Sorry not much to report, bit dull, but think our next week will be great in the tent and down to basics. Will be funny to see who misses the technology (tv, phones, etc) more, the girls or Marty and l LOL!!!!!
