Rain, rain go away!!! Today is pack up day and it is never nice to pack up with everything wet! It is also Rod's b'day so l made a big batch of pancakes for us for his celebration breaky. After breaky and another procrastinating coffee and chat with Angie it was time to clean up and pack up. We were finally finished at 11:30am!!! It took forever!
Now it was time to say goodbye to Angie and Rod, we were having to part ways after all this time. With tears flowing and big hugs given, we said our farewell with the promises made to stat friends for life...... It has been such a welcomed surprise in this trip to have met some wonderful people along the way that we will be definately keeping in touch with and to call mates. I thought when we started thus adventure that it might be a lonesome one, when in fact it has been the opposite.
Anyhow, we left around 11:30pm and headed off towards Ravanshoe to see the biggest windmill farm in QLD and also to view Millstream Falls. We arrived at the windmill farm but had awful viewing with it being so foggy and misty with dark skies, to the point that l couldn't even take a photo as it wouldn't focus!!! It was do cold and miserable that we just continued on to Millstream Falls where the weather was a tad better. No rain but still a bit chilly. We headed down the steep path knowing that the climb back up was going to be a killer on the thighs and calves! When we reached the viewing platform it was well worth it, the falls were spectacular. These falls are the widest single drop waterfall in Australia. It's s pity that we couldn't swim in them and that they arent accessible more than the viewing platform, but still they were glorious (blog pic). So after a few pics we started our walk up the steep winding path, eventually reaching the top with not too many whinges from the girls. We sat and had a picnic lunch of salad wraps then got back in the car to get to our mext destination.
We arrived at Undara National Park around 4pm and were astonished that they wanted $36 for us to camp the night, unpowered!!! So we quickly said no and booked our lava tube tour for tomorrow ($119 for the fam). The guy was so rude so the decision not to stay was made earlier. We headed back up the road for another 30kms to get to a road rest stop at Minnamoolka, just a rest stop with hybrid toilets. As we had just finished setting up a grey nad couple, Bob and Patricia, pulled up in s campervan. Bob was chatty and was on hols from WA so we swapped some stories which was nice. I played soccer with the girls for a bit but decided wasn't a good idea when l had to fetch the ball on the other side of the highway a few times!! Lol.... We heated up some leftovers for tea, had a bucket bath in the caravan then settled for the night. The battery inverter shat itself so there was no tv and l couldn't charge the lap top do an early night was forced onto us.....much needed I think!!
