Day 45. Moab, Utah.
Up early again today for the Colorado river trip by jet boat. Scenery was stunning and it was a really good opportunity to see the Canyonlands National Park from a different perspective. Only slight concern was that everyone else on the boat was either much older or much bigger (sometimes both!). After that we attempted to reach Dead Horse Point but were confronted by thunderstorms and lightning on three sides. Given that we were on bikes at the highest point we decided to retreat and try again tomorrow. After stopping for a quick haircut (you'll see the difference) we returned to the cabin only a few minutes before the full force of the storm arrived! Unfortunately the rope door handle on the cabin chose that moment to snap off which left us both stranded outside with horizontal rain! Fortunately Jane was still wearing her waterproof which meant that she was able to go and raise help at the reception. In the end we managed to break in using a hacksaw blade and have now fixed the rope handle. The storm having passed we can now see snow covering the tops of the mountains around us and it does look spectacular (see photo).
