Day 27. Memphis, Tennessee.Started the day today with a visit to the Peabody Hotel. We arrived in plenty of time for the "duck parade" where each day the Duck Master escorts the five resident mallards from their penthouse suite to the fountain in the hotel lobby. Day 26. Memphis, Tennessee.First thing this morning we headed out to a Suzuki dealer on the edge of Memphis to get our new tyres fitted. Memphis is clearly the poorest place we have visited so far. The roads reminded us of some of the conditions we experienced on our last sabbatical in Romania and Bulgaria - very bumpy and with big pot holes; and lots of the cars were old and beat up. Day 25. Memphis, Tennessee.A long day of traveling today to get to our Memphis base - 250 miles in total. We started out on the Natchez Trace Parkway for around 100 miles before turning west. It was a lovely 55 mph twisty road and probably one of the last interesting ones for a while. On the way into Memphis we stopped to buy tyres for the bikes so they could be fitted tomorrow. Day 24. Nashville, Tennessee.Started the day exploring our local neighbourhood of East Nashville. This is one of the older areas of Nashville with lots of trendy shops, bars and restaurants. The large number of posters welcoming people from all over the world suggests that this is very much an area of non-Trump supporters, unlike other areas we have been through where there are lots of Trump Pence boards on display. Day 23. Nashville, Tennessee.A day in Nashville today. We visited the state museum which was very interesting and gave a real insight into the lives of the early pioneer Americans right through to the present day.
