Motorcycling in the shadow of the moon
Day 44. Moab, Utah.
Another 06:00 start today, for our trip to Arches National Park - home to over 2000 natural sandstone arches. The early start was partly to miss the crowds and partly to avoid the heat.
We got to the entrance at 07:30, to find that quite a few other people had had the same idea. Rather than stop at some of the early spots, we decided to ride right to the far end of the 19 mile route through the park, to Devil's Garden Car Park. From there we followed a seven mile trail past some of the larger arches. The walk took almost 4 hours, and involved a fair bit of scrambling over rocks, narrow ledges, and a few false turns. Slightly more challenging than anticipated but definitely worth it, for the unique scenery.
