Friday, what did I do on friday? The original plan was to go surfing, butI think I don't take enough rest during my weeks here, so I slept throuh everything and woke up when the surf ppl were on their ways to the spot. So, no surfing for me. I decided to have a quiet day and see something of the city. Due to some stupidness (left my memorycard in my laptop, so had to hunt for a new one) I was too late for the tour through the city. :( Oh well, I went through some places myself, with a brandnew Myki card. St Kilda was for sunday so around 4 pm I made it to the tennis already, I know it's always a little bit disappointing in the second week, but I felt the need to feel the atmosphere there. I have a new home now. During the year Roland GArros and Wimbledon feel like home to me, because I go there every year and feel like knowing exactly how it works. Same now with Melbourne park, it is just a new home to me, and I hope to see it more often in the future. :)
I was early so strolled around a bit and saw the names of some dutch girls in wheelchair tennis. Time to sit down and watch a bit as I had never seen a doubles wheelchair match before. Of course it's less dynamic than normal doubles, but amazing what they can do with just their hands and arms. After seven games, I left the match to get a facepaint done. This is something I wanted for a long time already, but it was always too busy. Now i didn't care and got a koala with a racket on one cheek and a logo of AO on the other. When I was done, Tess had made it to th tennis too already so we hunted for a good spot to watch the SF on the screen.
Her friend is a big Roger Federer fan, and we moved to their table, after all we wanted to win him too, as we both don't like Murray and also don't like Djokovic. It was fun to be there, as the cameras focussed a lot on that group of fans. One thing that was typical though, there were some big Roger fans from Swiss too, but they were dressed normally, without any flags or stuff. They just weren't filmed, as they love the signs of support. Our spanish flags and outfits were loved too ;) It's just lovely, to openly show your support. Since RAfa is not here, they won't say, oh u support Rafa, but there are so many other spaniards who deserve it too. Still i have my dream, and that's why I haven't been on Rod Laver Arena yet. I want to see Rafa on Rod Laver, so he should be back next year! I don't think I will see all his matches, but well, that's something for the future to figure out. ;) Just a pity that Roger didn't make it this time. :(
It was past midnight when I made it back home, next day was a one day trip to Phillip Island so 10.50 pickup at my old hostel in town. Time goes so fast, especially the last days here :(
