Hurray for free wifi on the airport of Sydney, allowing me to write one more update before we take off for the long flight home. I'm currently sitting on the floor, guess how, with my phone on the charger haha. ;)
Yesterday was my last full day here and I tried to enjoy it as much as I could. Before 9 am I went to the tramstop to go to St Kilda, where the beach is. On sunday they have a market, so i checked out the market and walked back over the beach. It was on the chilly side, so there weren't many people on the beach. Nice for a walk with yourself and your thoughts alone. When I went back, I bought a few postcards to send for the last time, omg, never try to find stamps on sunday in Melbourne. I swear that I have asked at least 10 times before I finally found a tiny newsagent selling them.
By then I had crossed the whole CBD, Central Business District, and was close to panic :P. Not that it's a disaster when the cards wouldn't be posted, but hey, one is for my sisters birthday, the other for my father who has a new house, one for a friend in France and the other to my mother so yech, it would be cool if they will arrive by the end of the week ;)
But I made it, and had one and a half hour left before I'd go on the Eureka Skydeck with Tess, to have a great view on the city from above. Surprisingly it all fit in my bags so I could walk quietly to the high building and wait for Tess to arrive. it's very nice to see the city from so high up, in 38 seconds to the top is quite fast! The best part of it was seeing the AO from above, the temporary home in january of many tennisfans, and now from me too. :))
Straight from the Eureka Skydeck we went to the tennis, to watch the final on the big screen and soak up the atmosphere for the last time. It was full of people sitting in garden square, all with groundpasses to enjoy the match. I didn't really care for the match, no emotional connection for me, but it still is tennis and it was great fun to be with a few girls there and chat and have a drink and eat the AO food one more time. :) The lesson I learned there is that you should not wait with buying merchandise. I wanted a mug for my collecition, but they were sold out :((. So I only have a mini tennisbal and a bag, and instead of a mug, a beercooler ^^. Another good reason to come back here, I still want that mug. ;)
It was late till we left the courts, after midnight, with unfortunately Djokovic as champion. Not worth mentioning more words, it won't change anything haha. So now I am on sydney airport and it's raining cats and dogs outside. My flight this morning from Melbourne did arrive in the right time, but we had to wait almost an hour till we had a bay to arrive. By train then one stop closer to the city, to the international terminal and that's where I am sitting now.
24 hour flight is waiting for me, and I really don't look forward to it. Hopefully there are some good movies and music to listen to. I try not to sleep in the first flight, because I only want to sleep once. Maybe I can master a possible jetlag then. The jetlag on the first flight wasn't that bad, only two short nights, so I am confident I can manage this one too. :)
Probably I won't be able to talk from Kuala Lumpur airport so then I'll speak to you guys from the Netherlands again. Now it's hitting me that I am leaving soon, feeling so empty and sad. :( I better start planning the next trip soon, nothing better than planning and actually doing what you've planned. :D
Life is too good to just be at home, I want to explore! :)))
